About the Department
East Jaintia Hills District is a district with its headquarters at Khliehriat in the state of Meghalaya. The district was carved out of Jaintia Hills district on 31 July 2012.
Wapung and Saipung are the two community and rural development blocks of the district. The road length in the district under the Central Division of National Highway is 92 kms while under the State Highways (NEC Division) is 513 kms. The major minerals found in the district are coal, limestone and fireclay, and there are 12 cement plants in the district.
The Office of the District School Education Officer (DSEO) started from the year 2013 after the District was created. Smt. L. Rymbai, SDSEO incharge the Office of the DSEO at the same time but almost 94% of the office work was rendered by the staff of the DSEO Jowai. In the year 2015 the DSC recommended one staff the DEO he is the only staff of this office at that time, who work sincerely, very hardworking and dedicated his service to run the Office with the incharge DSEO from Jowai, he rendered extra time every day to complete the office work. Later the DSC recommended one LDA and one Peon. In the year 2017-2018 the same DEO of this Office was deputed to render extra work for Rashtriya Madhyamic Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) under the Office of the District Project Coordinator (DPC) in the month of November 2018 the full time staff was approved.
During the year 2013 upto 2016 there were 39 Secondary schools including Government and RMSA Secondary Schools and 5(five) Higher Secondary Schools. In the year 2016 upto 2018 there were 18(eighteen) Secondary Schools and 4(four) Higher Secondary Schools was upgraded in the district.
The Office of the DSEO conduct every year the District Science Exhibition and District Science Seminar, since the year 2016 up to 2018, the Schools from our District was selected every year to participate at the State Level and also at the National Level.
From this District the Teachers Award and the Bharat Scout Master & Guide Captain participated and also given every year. Very happy to say during the year 2016-17 one teacher was participated and was selected to receive the National Award for Teachers.

The above Organization Chart clearly shown that the Scheme / Project it directly link from the Head Office to the beneficiaries. The Head Office will scrutiny the application along with the supportive documents of the schools Management Committee.
This Office requests the schools to apply / submit their application to the Office of the District School Education Officer / District Project Coordinator RMSA to apply for RMSA Schools and for Supporting Human Development Capital (ADB), in order to forward the same to the Head Office for necessary action.
